People often ask me why I work as a consultant at J&M. The answer is as conclusive as it is simple: because it’s fun!

It’s fun to repeatedly come up with solutions on new and challenging projects. It’s fun working autonomously, designing new initiatives and driving them forward. And above all, it’s fun working in a team characterized by an open, friendly atmosphere.

I very much value the importance given to teamwork at J&M. The atmosphere at work is really pleasant, on large and small projects alike, and should you need help at any time, there’s always a colleague you can call on.

Despite the fact that I specialize here in a particular area of the SAP environment, I also get the opportunity to “sniff around” at other areas. As a consultant, for example, I can also take part in recruitment fairs for J&M, share knowledge in internal communities and actively shape my own time within the company. In all these activities, working in a team is given top priority.

After finishing my studies I went into consultancy because I wanted to find out as much as I could, as quickly as I could: from multi-faceted issues at customers through new theories and subjects on the market to the various countries, their mindsets and culture.

At the interview it very quickly became clear to me that I would be able to do just that at J&M. I also appreciated the friendly way in which colleagues deal with each other and the emphasis placed on teamwork. Six years later and not a single thing has changed in the values here or the way people treat each other – despite the fact that the company has undergone significant growth. Each and every one of us contributes to that - and that's a great feeling!

When I joined J&M, everything went very well and positively. Even in my first weeks here I found myself in contact with customers on two projects and was able to apply and expand my knowledge on the subjects of storage strategy and marketing. In the selection of projects, my wishes for the way I wanted my career to develop were taken into account. Thanks to the open corporate culture, I quickly became a firm part of the team and was able to assemble my own work packages.

In addition, I was quickly given the opportunity to take on responsibility: working independently, I organise university workshops in which we present the basics of team work at our company and offer training, thus giving students an impression of what everyday life in consultancy is like.

I like to bring about change. That’s why I decided to go into a specialist area of consultancy. I hoped that I would have more freedom there and be able to take on responsibility more quickly. My hopes were fulfilled: I put everything into my work and J&M supports me fully in doing that. For example, I’ve already been able to publish a book and work as a visiting lecturer.

Alongside these freedoms I quickly found myself heading up projects. And my performance has been recognized: as a manager, I have employees assigned to me and individual responsibility for sales. I grow as a person with each new assignment and my learning curve remains consistently steep.
