Dear Readers,
The position of Germany industry has improved considerably over the last few months and hence due to not only the amount of modern
international trade but also the size of this market, there has been an impact on many other European markets. As an example, the number of
contracts received by the German machine and plant-building industry in March 2007 was 47 percent higher than last year’s corresponding figure.
Moreover, investments in the last few years have successfully increased competitiveness.
Furthermore, whilst cost reduction still plays an important role, J&M has discerned an increased focus on innovation among its clients.
Considering this, and in view of high capacities, international expansion and increasing customer-specific production, there is now a
greater emphasis on effective control of complex supply-chain parameters. With plenty of scope for optimisation, this newsletter provides
some insights into how you can learn to recognise, and use, this potential effectively.
“Innovative Supply Chain Strategies” is also the subject of a dinner speech to be held by Prof. Lothar Späth on the first evening of the
Supply Chain Days conference, June 20-21.2007, Heidelberg. Experts and practitioners will discuss new approaches and procedures in
production, logistics and IT. You are more than welcome to discuss your own innovative ideas and practical experience with emissaries from eminent
companies such as: Bombardier, DHL, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, Robert Bosch, Roche Diagnostics and Volkswagen.
I hope you enjoy reading the rest of this newsletter.
