Dear Readers,
 why do managers think differently to the majority of other citizens? Values such as responsibility and duty are of paramount importance to leading business executives. This was the conclusion reached by a recent study performed by Sinus Sociovision. Managers are also far more likely to place value on such virtues as: civil-courage, tolerance and openness than the general public is.
According to the Sinus study, leading business executives have clear preferences for the future: according to survey participants, the most likely and most agreeable future model would involve a perpetually transforming information and knowledge-based society, founded on individual autonomy.
Continuous evolution and optimisation are the supporting tenets of LEAN philosophy. Together with the trade magazine Automobil Industrie, J&M has initiated the LEAN Enterprise Benchmarking Study. The survey has two goals. The first being to determine a company's LEAN maturity, reflecting the extent of its implementation of LEAN principles. The second goal is to help participating companies define and exploit areas of potential improvement.
